Innovita RBT Therapeutics offers a different approach to treatment for cancer patients.

Do you know that dendritic cell therapy is one of the most advanced treatments for cancer available today?

When you or a family member is diagnosed with cancer you need all the facts to be able to make the necessary life changing decisions.

The Science: Cell Immunotherapy

Chronic diseases, such as cancer, thrive because our immune system is unable to properly do its work. In most cases this is because our body’s immune system is unable to identify cell mutations and fight the cancer.

Cell Immunotherapy (not to be confused with drug-based immunotherapy) can stimulate a powerful effective immune response within the body to wage a war against disease in a natural way.

We think you need to know about DCT cell immunotherapy:

Why Cell Immunotherapy?

Fewer Side Effects

The use in immunotherapy of naturally occurring biologically active molecules, such as cytokines, interferons or antibodies, is often referred as biological therapy. Immune effector cells such as lymphocytes (T and B cells), macrophages, Dendritic or NK cells are commonly used for cell therapy. These cells can be isolated from the patient (autologous) or, in some cases, taken from the closely related donor (allogeneic).

Works With Other Treatments

It can be given alongside most traditional treatments (subject to specialist advice on timing for optimum effectiveness) and has been shown to reduce symptoms of other health treatment regimes such as chemotherapy.

Clinically Established

Cell immunotherapy is well established as a safe and effective approach to chronic disease management, supported by thousands of clinical papers.

What form does Cell Immunotherapy take?

Dendritic Cell Vaccines (DCV)

01

The process involves extracting monocyte cells which are then matured into Dendritic Cells in the laboratory. These Dendritic Cells are then ‘primed’ against cancer cells and returned to the patient where they reside in the lymphatic system. They are able to then instruct the immune system to recognize and remove cancer cells. This is a simple, effective, and safe procedure for the patient as reported in thousands of clinical papers and it is applicable to all solid tumours. The action of this therapy against the disease lasts for a long time.

Cytokine Induced Killer therapy or T-cell primed immunotherapy (CIK)

02

This form of therapy is applied in cases where the patient’s immune system is weaker. In this case, the T cells are extracted, multiplied in the laboratory and then ‘primed’ with the patient’s cancer type. When they are given back to the patient, they are expected to find and kill the cancer cells. This is also commonly used alongside DCV. Again, this can be very effective and is safe for the patient.

Umbilical Cord Blood derived natural killer cells (UCB)

03

When the patient’s immune system is weak or we want a very immediate effect, then we can provide a patient with a ‘replacement’ immune system. This treatment can be given with any other treatment regime as it acts in parallel.
What is UCB?
Natural killer (NK) cells are innate immune cells that play a crucial role in anti-cancer immunity. NK cells can kill target cells non-specifically, and their recognition of target cells is not restricted by the major histocompatibility complex. The adoptive transfer of NK cells is an emerging therapy in the field of immuno-oncology.

Peptide Vaccines

04

Peptide Vaccines are a form of personalised cell immunotherapy where adjuvants are used and loaded with relevant Peptides for the patient’s cancer histopathology.  The expert immunologists not only load with current known antigens for the tumour signature, but they also use their knowledge to add antigens for the expected changes in the cancer.

These Peptides prime dendritic cells in the patient’s body and in turn the dendritic cells instruct NK cells how to identify and attack the cancer cells. Whilst it is a similar action to dendritic cells matured and primed in the laboratory, it has some differences and can be used in different situations.
